About the event
What does it mean to be a Music Producer in today’s music industry? It’s such a broad term these days because the art form is constantly changing.
There are so many artists working alone in the studio producing their own music. Self-produced artists are busy in studios and bedrooms and hallways all over the globe.
Personally, I love working alone I’ve done a ton of that over the years of my recording career, so I'm excited to talk to you about that. I’ve also worked with a lot of bands. What’s it like to work with a whole group of other personalities in the room at one time? That’s a lot of energy to direct and manage. How do we steer that ship so to speak? Where does our influence begin and end? That’s very important to know. How do we know when to dive in and give direction or when to stand back and allow artists and musicians to follow an idea and flow with their own creative process.
We need to know what its like to be in that chair - taking direction from the producer. We need to know some of the finer details in the art of production. It’s a very powerful occupation and we want to avoid micro-managing people and killing the buzz.
Ultimately we want to help create beautiful and powerful music and beam it out to the world. We want that music to move people in a soulful way. And when we’re creating it, we want that to be a spontaneous and joyful experience!
As a producer, I want to get that kind of feedback from the artist like.. “man I loved working with that guy, he was amazing. He made me feel so relaxed in the studio and he brought out performances in me that I never knew I had”. As producers we must learn to create that open space for artists to really be themselves and deliver their best!
